About Adobe Acrobat reader. Some of the files in this web page are in Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) format. For you to read and print these on your computer you first need to have a program called Adobe Acrobat Reader on your computer. Fortunately, if you don't have it already it can be downloaded (at no cost) to your computer with a few mouse clicks and about 30 minutes of download time (with a 28.8K modem). It requires about 5.5 M bytes of space on your hard disk, and once it resides on your computer you won't need to get it again next time you need to get a document from the Web in Acrobat (or .pdf) format. This format is becoming more widely used to access documents on the World Wide Web because when they are printed out they look like the original, keeping the original page numbers and position on the page (unlike HTML). Adobe is happy to give you the Acrobat Reader program for free because then they can sell more of the programs (to the creators of the Web pages) that convert the original documents to the Acrobat format. Click here to download the Acrobat reader program now to your computer.
